(Pictured: Students from Dr. Kolarcik's first grade classroom with their shelf for the elf!)
In Dr. Kolarcik's first grade classroom class today, students built a shelf for the elf. The question was "Can you construct the tallest possible shelf that will hold the elf?" The students could pick their own materials: legos, connecting cubes, Keva planks. They had to use two playdough containers as their base. They talked about vertical and horizontal building and they learned to measure their shelf using an inch ruler.
What a great way to make learning fun for the holidays!
